@GaiaSavior01, I blanked your post because it contained some unvetted charges that go against our policy on biographies of living people. It appears that you're not here to write an encyclopedia but to carry out some personal business. For an understanding of what is and isn't allowed here, see "what Wikipedia is not". As for your questions about Metzger's life, I'm not the person to answer them. I don't know him, I don't maintain his article, and I frankly have little interest in him. WP gives articles to people who significant coverage in multiple reliable, independent sources. (?) Unless your argument is that Metzger doesn't have this, you're not going to get much of an audience. The Revivalry – A Tribute to Running Wild

Greetings. I have added an article (The Revivalry - A Tribute to Running Wild) with details about a Running Wild (band) tribute album; however, despite my efforts to make the article comply with guidelines, it has been repeatedly redirected to the band's page. I have added a citation to a published book that references the album. I have also added categories and even a stub tag. Is there something more that needs to be done? Thanks for the assistance. Hi @Hexc0de, there was a (relatively underpopulated) discussion that resulted in redirecting the tribute album's article. Even with a single source, there are not enough reliable, independent sources that discuss the topic (the tribute album) in enough depth to warrant its own article, so the next step is to write about the topic at its parent article (the one about the band). (The idea is that we don't have enough sources to say more than a sentence or two about the subject.) Not without making a mess—the latter's history fits in the middle of the former's without a clear break. It depends? If the article was a cut-and-paste move and that conflicting edit is the "pasted" copy of the old article, it would be deleted, so it's workable. If it's two different drafts, and they do not have a clean break between them, it gets messy. In reality, histmerging is only necessary when the stuff being merged in needs attribution to be preserved. If they're your edits to be merged, most histmerge admins will just suggest that you copy and paste your work over the current article and redirect the old version, since the attribution will be the same (attributed to you). If a single edit overlaps, it still requires a complex deletion and restoring technique (as described on the histmerge info page). I'm happy to oblige when the histmerge is reasonable, when attribution would otherwise be hard to preserve, but it otherwise makes sense to simply merge one's own edits, as mentioned. Otherwise, histmerging with the only real effect of changing the "first" edit to the page is a game not worth playing. czar ⨹ 12:44, 5 February 2015 (UTC)

I closed that deletion discussion based on the consensus of the editors involved. I found their rationales valid when I checked them myself. For more information on what kind of sources articles need, I recommend the readings off of WP:42. The images related to that article both credited authorship without any explicit sign of their permission. Right, that 2010 conversation was about citing it for partisan opinion. The 2008 was about using it as a reliable source for facts. On KotakuInAction (the GamerGate forum) - apparently the fact that you wrote a bunch of wiki articles on Tim Rogers and related subjects (along with, you know, 50 bajillion other articles safely ignored) means that you're some sort of SJW secret agent and possibly secretly Tim Rogers himself. · How the fuck does this post have 728 points as of now when basically every single comment is disagreeing with it?
  And yes, Tim Rogers is a pretty cool guy and not even close to an "SJW." People need to stop fucking using that term to refer to anyone who ever expresses an opinion they don't like.
       The fact that this post has a "VERIFIED" tag makes me fucking livid. I might be done with this sub forever.

Hi Czar, regarding File:Apple Pay promotional hero.jpg, while you are correct that any conceivable replacement image would be a derivative work, and thus could only be used under a claim of fair use, it is generally required that things like this be "less infringing" if possible. With this image, there is not only the copyright of the creator of the cards to consider, but also the copyright of the photographer. If it were replaced with a completely 2D screenshot from the app (one that doesn't show the iPhone at all) or were replaced with a photo that included the phone but where the photographer disclaims their copyright or releases it under an acceptable license, then it is considered to be more free. That second opinion is not consistent with our practices. You are correct that some of the cards themselves are copyrighted and so for the sake of being "freer", we should use a screenshot that shows only {{PD-ineligible}} designs (for instance, a screenshot showing only the Chase freedom card or another that has no creative elements). --B (talk) 18:50, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

That said, there is no opposition to ensuring neutrality and adhering to COI guidelines. Gathering multiple sources and having additional assistance to facilitate editing is preferable as well. It's helpful to know however, that the article is not completely purged, so that it can be improved upon and retained within the dictionary. @Greg's wiki, the article will remain deleted unless you have sources (reliable, secondary, independent, as mentioned) that were absent from the deletion discussion, otherwise that decision holds. We don't keep WP articles that don't meet that bare minimum criteria for sourcing. Also I don't know about your previous COI review, if you could answer what your relation is to the subject or at least show me where that was discussed. Editors are highly discouraged from editing in areas where they have conflicts of interest. Greetings. There was no formal COI review. Pardon me Czar. No confusion intended. I simply wanted to convey that I understand Wikipedia’s position regarding potential conflicts of interest. Perhaps you can advise if there is a preferred method to build upon the article currently. Can the deleted article be placed within the sandbox to build upon? I ask in that I am not familiar with the procedure, given the current status.

Thank you very much for the follow-up. I do sincerely welcome the additional clarification with respect to ReverbNation. I presume that you are aware that there are plenty of articles within the dictionary, in a like category similar to that of the subject article, which have cited ReverbNation as one of several sources.

My purpose in this regard is not to suggest that the inclusion of such source in relationship to any article within a similar category is an issue or not, just that there have been some instances in which its mentioned as a source. That said, I would agree that it is more prudent to have several sources deemed reliable, that do not necessarily weigh heavily on metrics and factors such as social media.

Given your overview thus far, perhaps what would be more practical is to submit alternate sources for your review. Also please advise if 2-3 reliable and secondary sources will suffice and can be utilized in conjunction with the original article, currently archived. Regarding the main template

Hello, Czar. I hope everything is going well with you. Concerning the {{main}} template, I'm aware that it automatically inserts the section symbol where appropriate, but my intent in modifying the label was to adjust the italicization of the game's title. When spans of italicized text are nested within one another, the general practice is to alternate between using and not using italics, no? I'm thinking along the lines, The quick brown fox plays Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary while jumping over the lazy dog. (I know, it's a terrible example.) Because the template automatically italicizes all displayed text, is it not logical to use a label to tweak this functionality here? The documentation seems to suggest it is. @Zziccardi, I used to do the same thing myself, but I think it ended up defeating the purpose of the template's style, which uses italics as emphasis. Unitalicizing the italics (to indicate a creative work) ends up looking like a mistake and doesn't actually inform the reader about its nature as a creative work. I also could find no established consensus where such a practice of unitalicizing italics in hatnotes was desirable. I would bring it up for discussion and have it written into the documentation if you think such a distinction is still necessary. czar ⨹ 10:30, 26 March 2015 (UTC)

Hello, again. While I don't believe it's absolutely necessary to un-italicize the titles of major works within hatnotes, I also don't think it could hurt. Seeing that the main template automatically indents the generated text, and that everything but the creative work's title would be italicized, distinguishing the hatnotes from the text of the article proper shouldn't be too much of an issue. If you think it's worth discussing, trying to reach consensus as to whether such a practice is agreeable sounds good to me. —zziccardi (talk) 23:48, 26 March 2015 (UTC)

As I said, I think it's better to default to the automatic formatting, the one that italicizes both the creative work and the section title. (Additionally I don't think it's worth the effort of reformatting all such hatnotes.) Rare spelling

@Jaguar, edit consensus is to use the existing format, as in that the article has used AmEng and MDY formatting for a long time. There is no cross-article consensus that Rareware articles use BritEng and the only relevant guideline would be strong national ties to a topic, which is for towns or wars that have a, well, strong affiliation with a nationality. Rareware, or any product developed somewhere, is not that. If it may appear that all Rareware (or Rockstar) articles use BritEng, it is because editors have continued to misapply strongnat unilaterally. The slow march of history aside, there is no reason to change the date and language format of Donkey Kong Country without a consensus otherwise. czar ⨹ 12:28, 12 April 2015 (UTC)

Thanks I got confused there; I think ENGVAR would benefit from an update but that would probably be best for another time (don't want to get banned again)! I don't know why but I've always wrote with both. The 90s' Rareware games are on my list for future GAs and I'm pulling everything I got at getting DKC to GA soon, thankfully it's one of those games where there are a lot of sources available (I even have physical sources). Hey, Czar. Bad news: Game Rankings has a habit of misreporting review dates, particularly for EGM. I checked the issue in question and (as I suspected) it contained nothing about SML. All is not lost, though. The EGM review for SML 1 is in issue #3 on Retromags. (EGM #38 has the SML 2 review, but, to my knowledge, it isn't available online. Check N-Force #8 for an alternative SML 2 review.) SML 1 and 3 have summary reviews in Super Play #23. Another SML 1 review is in GamePro #5.
